Update - Blackdown Hills Sausage Festival on June 13th
The innaugural World Sausage Hurling Championships were a huge success, with records being broken throughout the day right up until the 5pm deadline. Matt Groves now holds the record for the mens event, hurling the "Devon Dazzler" 19.45 meters. Michelle Harding, hurled the "Hemyock Hurler" 15.6 meters to take the ladies event and the childrens event was won by Lee Nightingill with a massive 22.9 meters for the "Baby Blackdown". The 12-16 year olds used the "Hemyock" Hurler and this category was won by James Olive with a hurl of 20.8 meters.
Moonbeams Land and their "classic Gloucester old spot sausage" won the Wallace trophy for the best tasting sausage of the festival which was unanimously voted for by the judges.
A great day was had by all in the wonderful June sunshine and next year will be bigger even better and yes sausages will fly!
Friday 10th July The NEW season of Friday night Barbecues start at Wallaces. All you can eat for £7. small children are half price. Come and relax and enjoy a great sunset, with all your family.
